Young At Heart
Today is my birthday and I wanted to write to y’all about growing old while keeping your mind and body young. Yes, many of you reading this may not think I am all that old, but I am going to be a mom now! When I started seeing more pictures of my friends posting their kids in Halloween costumes than my friends in ridiculous Halloween costumes of their own, I realized that I am getting older, whether I like it or not.
Growing older can be an awesome time in life…….if you take care of yourself. I know that I don’t want to be old and just trying to get by day to day, I want to be old and able to enjoy traveling with my husband and children, exercising with my family, and doing anything and everything I can to see the world. Remember, age is only a number. Treat your body right and it will treat you right later down the road.
How can you stay feeling young?
You are what you eat! Your skin and hair reflect what you put into your body. Yes, it is true. The healthier you eat, the better your skin and hair will look.
Exercise, Exercise, Exercise! Get Moving. Exercise will help keep your muscles and joints lubricated and help you to keep a healthy weight and immune system.
Yoga/Pilates/Meditation- Not only does this help in flexibility, it will help with peace of mind and calmness as well. Learn to take time for yourself and this will also help lower blood pressure and help you to not get so stressed out.
Stay Positive! Have a positive attitude and it will reflect. It will help you stay younger and more fit. Staying positive will not allow regular stresses affect you as much.
Act like a child. Not really, but you’ve all heard the saying ” We don’t stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing”. Never lose your sense of amazement, always laugh, always smile, and don’t let the little things in life get to you.
Now…….if it’s your birthday too, have your piece of cake and enjoy every last bite! Happy Birthday to all of us growing older :o)
