Almonds, any flavor!
Often times, nuts get a bad rap. People think they are salty, fatty, and high in calories. Eaten in moderation, nuts are great for you! They are high in fiber, protein, vitamins, nutrients (vitamin E), good fats (monounsaturated) and help lower bad cholesterol and chances for heart disease.
Almonds are a great snack, delicious over baked chicken or fish, added to a salad, or even eaten with fruit. Studies show that if you eat 1/2-1 serving of almonds every day, you can lower your LDL (bad) cholesterol up to 9%! That is awesome for such a delicious and crunchy snack.
How much should you eat? About 1-1.5 oz per day. Nuts can actually be filling, believe it or not. Especially if you eat them with a big glass of water. The crunchiness can be more than satisfying and now all of the new flavors can help get rid of any craving you might have.
While raw and unsalted nuts are best for you, it is okay to mix those with these tastier versions. Cinnamon and sugar, dark chocolate, toffee butter, salt and vinegar, habenero bbq, smoked, and the list goes on. Try to get these little heart helpers into your diet today!
