Afraid of Weights?
Just because you are not trying to become one of those fitness models or bodybuilders doesn’t mean that you should avoid the weight room at the gym. More often than not, I hear women object to using heavy weights in their weight routine or women who are against weight lifting all together. So many women believe that they cannot lift anything heavier than their purse because they fear that lifting weights will make them explode with bulging muscles. Instead, women like to spend countless hours on cardio machines in an effort to obtain a ideal physique. The cardio machines are easy to figure out with the step by step instructions on how to get started. Women do not like to experiment with weightlifting for a few different reasons like “bulking” up or not knowing what exercises to do and looking stupid while wandering around the weight room. Well, let me tell you this, women cannot bulk up from lifting weights! We simply do not have enough testosterone in our bodies to pack on a lot of muscle. Instead, we want to lose the fat and tone up the muscles we do have by adding at least 3 days a week of weights to our cardio routine. Weight lifting should be a top priority when it comes to losing weight, toning up, or just plain ole staying in shape.
Well, ladies, don’t be scared….I am going to help you get out of the cardio rut and start pumping some iron TODAY!
Why weightlifting is beneficial?
- Your clothes will fit better! You might not weigh less, but you will lose inches.
- Weights = reduced stress
- You will lose fat and become stronger at the same time.
- Weightlifting makes enhanced metabolism last longer. Which will increase the amount of calories you burn while sitting at your desk.
- Weightlifting has been proven to improve the health of bones. Prevent bone disease and make it harder to have osteoporosis later in life. The more stimulation the bones receive, the denser they will be.
- Don’t you want to look like an athlete…..a girl who can hang when it comes to playing sports? Weights make you HOT! Look better in a bikini, strapless dress, or short shorts.
- Women who lift weights have a better self-confidence and disposition. None the less…you will be a MUCH happier person.
- Your workouts will never get boring….especially if you follow my workouts on BarBelles At Home.
- You will become more aware of the foods going into your mouth. Which will help you get a hold on the amount of calories you consume in a day.
- You will have a healthier and happier heart. Weightlifting not only decreases blood pressure, but will also decrease your chances of a heart attack or stroke.
- It is very important to gradually increase the weight in your workouts. If you reach your maximum weight, vary your routines so that your muscles will always keep guessing what is coming next.
- You will develop a shapely figure. A nice chiseled middle.
If those reason’s aren’t enough for you to start hitting the weights, then we need to have a serious talk!
If you are still afraid of “bulking up” with weights, simply increase your intensity during your weight training. Add in some jumping jacks, jump rope, pop squats, or other plyometric exercises during your weight routine. It is a sure fire way to get that heart pumping, fat burning, and muscles moving!
Remember to continue to eat healthy too!
