COUCH POTATO… TO FITNESS DIVA
You have the intention of going to the gym for a good workout. However, do you ever get home from work and sit down on the couch JUST to watch 15 minutes of TV and end up sitting there for an hour? If you just don’t feel like going to the gym today, workout at home! The average time for TV commercials is steadily increasing. Most hour long shows have about 18-20 minutes of commercials. Take the time during the commercials of your favorite TV show to maximize your time into an incredible at-home workout. Make the most of the time by doing high intensity exercises such as plyometrics and cardio. After your show is over, grab a neighbor or a friend and add another 20 minutes into your routine by taking the dog on a walk, jogging, or going on a bike ride. Get your heart pumping and blood flowing! Skipping the gym won’t be such a big deal after all.
Example exercises during the commercial breaks:
30 seconds of Jumping Jacks
30 seconds of pushups
30 seconds deep squats
30 seconds of dips
Repeat for the next set of commercials
30 seconds of running in place
30 seconds of pop squats
30 seconds of bridge
30 seconds of situps
Repeat for the next set of commercials
30 seconds of high knees (beginner-marching in place)
30 seconds of bear crawls
30 seconds of lunges
30 seconds of overhead extensions
Repeat for the next set of commercials
30 seconds of step ups (onto chair)
30 seconds of walking planks
30 seconds of calf raises
30 seconds of reverse bridge w leg kicks
Repeat for the next set of commercials
If you are more advanced/athlete and have a piece of cardio equipment at your house, ride your bike, jog, or walk on an incline during your show and only get off of the machine when the commercials come on.
