Fit to Wed
You’re engaged! Congratulations! You may ask yourself, am I in the BEST physical shape that I want to be in for my big day or event? If you answered no, then take these few steps to help stay focused, minimize your stress and your inches to look and feel your best during a very important event in your life.
Every bride and groom, mother of the bride/groom, and bridesmaids wants to look perfect for the big day. But what happens when you look in the mirror and see nothing but your trouble spots. Instead of freaking out and opting for the fad diets late in the process, start at least 6 months out with a cardiovascular and weight workout and healthy eating plan. You will thank yourself when your wedding day/big event arrives.
Too busy to think about being fit for the big day? Trust me, life can get in the way of being healthy and fit, but there are subtle ways to change your daily routine so that you live a healthier lifestyle- even if it is a hectic one. Set some realistic goals to help avoid any unneeded stress.
Rise and Shine a little earlier. Set out your workout clothes by your bed the night before. When your alarm goes off, get up, get dressed, and eat a small, healthy breakfast on your way out of the door for a workout.
Workout while watching TV or a movie. There are plenty of weight and toning exercises you can do while watching the latest episode of “The Office”. Before your favorite show comes on, write down the exercises you plan to do and if you need help picking exercises, the web has unlimited access to free exercise programs. Or you can pick a gym that has TVs or a cardio cinemas. This helps make the time go by faster.
Take advantage of your lunch break. Many gyms offer lunchtime classes that will help you stay motivated and productive throughout the work day. If you knock out your workout at lunch, once you leave work for the day, you will have the entire afternoon and evening to work on wedding plans.
Hire a trainer to come to you. Having a trainer meet you at your house, place of work, or a park will not only save you travel time, it will ensure that you show up! An in-home trainer makes sure you not only stay motivated and focused while they are there training you, but they also keep you on your toes when you are by yourself.
Keep a Fitness and Food Journal. By keeping a journal, you are committing yourself to staying healthy. If you have to write down that you ate a piece of chocolate cake, you are going to be less likely to actually eat the cake. By writing down your exercise for the day, you are able to see the accomplishments you are making day to day.
Walk to your wedding appointments. Park far away from your appointments so that you have to walk to them. This will help get your blood flowing and also help you stay focused and organize your thoughts.
Go on adventurous dates with your fiance or friend. Instead of going on a lazy date, opt for rock climbing, dancing, hiking, kayaking, surfing, running, bike riding, or touring your city. It will be an incredible quality time experience plus you will have loads of fun!
Cook dinner for your honey. Prepare meals on Sunday afternoon and then go to the grocery store so you will be prepared for the week. You will have all of the ingredients you need to cook a healthy meal for your fiance or friend. And maybe you can even talk them into helping!
Workout the day of the wedding. This will help relieve stress and pre-wedding jitters. The workout will help give you energy to feel and look your best.
All of these goals can be lifestyle changes that you continue to make even after tying the knot. You will start out your marriage not only fit and happy, but also healthy together.
